Long-term volunteer position available in Haiti. Must be a licensed dentist.

Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (NPH) is a Catholic-affiliated international humanitarian organization working in nine countries. NPH-Haiti began in 1987 and has since grown into a permanent home for over 500 orphaned children as well as a brand new, 130-bed pediatric hospital. (more information at www.nphhaiti.org )

At NPH-Haiti?s St. Damien Chateaublond Hospital in Tabarre, we now have a unique opportunity for a volunteer dentist to come to Haiti and immediately find all the resources and community support necessary for him/her to succeed in serving the very poor and impacting conditions in Port-au-Prince. A one-year commitment is desirable but negotiable.

The new dental clinic is a three-chair, air-conditioned, fully equipped facility where children and adults from local, extremely underserved areas around Port-au-Prince receive basic treatments including preventive procedures, restorations, and extractions all free of charge. Local dental staff act as language interpreters and provide chair-side dental assistance. Long-time NPH-Haiti family member, Dr. Ron Pruhs, will orient the volunteer, helping him/her adjust to the clinic and country.

Volunteers pay their own travel expenses but room, board, wireless internet, and a small stipend are all provided once in the country. Volunteers stay in a new on-site volunteer/guest-house providing an international, safe, and comfortable environment. Water all the time. Electricity all the time.

Working knowledge of English is necessary as it is the common language among volunteers. French is useful in learning the local language ? Haitian Creole.

NPH is a Catholic organization but people of all faiths are warmly welcomed.

Volunteer should bring all personal items and any preferred dental instruments.

For more information and pictures of the clinic, contact Dr. Ron Pruhs: rpruhs@peoplepc.com. In your correspondence, cc Carlo Diy, NPH-Haiti Volunteer Coordinator: npfs.giving@gmail.com.
